Mixedbread Unveils Search Agent Toast 1
Mixedbread has unveiled Toast 1, a search agent dedicated to retrieving information for large language models. This product separates the role of finding necessary materials and selecting sources before the main models, such as GPT and Claude, generate answers. Mixedbread has opened Toast 1 as an API, allowing it to be integrated with other agents for search and data collection. While the search framework has been released as open source, the model weights have not yet been disclosed. Toast 1 is designed so that instead of the main model directly searching for information to handle user queries, it first filters the necessary documents and sources before passing the results along. Mixedbread explained that the search quality of Toast 1 is competitive with leading proprietary models while also being cost-effective and fast. In the Harvey legal knowledge base test, after Toast 1 handled the search, the answer score from GPT-5.6 Sol was maintained, and overall costs were reduced by over 60%. In the Databricks OfficeQA Pro V2 evaluation, the combination of GPT-5.6 Sol and Toast 1 scored 70%, with the costs of the Toast 1 combination being less than half. Mixedbread proposed a method in the Agentic Search document that divides difficult questions into several sub-searches that are hard to handle with a single search, re-evaluating the search results to select the final candidates. This release demonstrates that the competition among AI models is expanding from answer generation capabilities to search and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) infrastructure.

AI Policy Risk Sparks Selloff, BTC Breaks $76K | WEEX Weekly Recap (2026.11.02-11.06)
The market quickly shifted from post-election risk recovery to AI policy risk and data-center restriction pricing. After Democrats gained a clear seat advantage in the midterms, risk assets first traded lower uncertainty, but data-center limits, tighter AI regulation risk, and tech valuation pressure became the new selloff triggers. Thursday’s tech and AI-chain decline pulled BTC below $76,000, moving the market from earnings trades into a second-wave volatility window.
