XRP Ledger Foundation Fixes Security Vulnerability, Confirms No New XRP Created
The XRP Ledger Foundation clarified the recent security vulnerability incident on the X platform, stating that the vulnerability could have been used to bypass the limit of XRP's total supply fixed at 100 billion. However, it was patched two weeks ago with version 3.4.1. After verification, no new XRP was found to have been created, and the total amount of XRP currently circulating in the ledger is approximately 99.986 billion. The vulnerability requires hundreds of deliberately constructed operations to trigger, and normal payment transactions are unlikely to be affected. In the future, the Foundation will strengthen formal verification, AI adversarial testing, security research collaboration, and bug bounty programs with RippleX and the community. The Foundation explained that publicly releasing the patch could allow attackers to use AI to accelerate vulnerability analysis, leading the XRPL community to coordinate and reach a social consensus to agree on directly releasing the fix. Version 3.4.1 became the mandatory version for the network after going through the normal amendment voting process and receiving support from over 80% of validators. Protocol changes still need to be completed through the amendment mechanism.

The market quickly shifted from post-election risk recovery to AI policy risk and data-center restriction pricing. After Democrats gained a clear seat advantage in the midterms, risk assets first traded lower uncertainty, but data-center limits, tighter AI regulation risk, and tech valuation pressure became the new selloff triggers. Thursday’s tech and AI-chain decline pulled BTC below $76,000, moving the market from earnings trades into a second-wave volatility window.

WEEX’s weekly recap tracks AI investment, rate expectations, and crypto. The Nasdaq rose for two sessions early in the week, but concerns about inflation, GOOGL’s sharp drop, and weak after-hours reactions to AMZN and INTC pushed volatility higher.
