David Schwartz Reveals the Meaning of the Number 100 on His XRP T-Shirt

By: coin-turk.com|10/31/2026 12:19:46

Former Ripple technology chief David Schwartz stated that the '100' on the t-shirt he wore at the Swell event relates to a technical milestone reached by the XRP Ledger. The shirt was prepared to commemorate the XRPL network reaching a level of 100 transactions per second. Schwartz mentioned that when the t-shirt was ordered, XRP was around $0.30, and by the time it was delivered, it had risen to $1. This situation was associated by some users with XRP's price reaching $1. Schwartz expressed that this misunderstanding was embraced for a while. No exact date was provided for when the t-shirt was made. It is difficult to derive a precise date since XRP traded around $0.30 in the past. However, historical data regarding the XRPL's transaction capacity can help understand the approximate period. When performance testing on the network began in February 2015, the system was at a level of 80 transactions per second. Between March and June 2015, this level rose to a range of 120 to 490 transactions per second. In October 2015, it reached 525 transactions per second, and in 2016, it hit 1,100 transactions per second. By July 2017, it was demonstrated that the XRPL could sustain a capacity of 1,500 transactions per second, a level that is still maintained today. This chronology indicates that the number 100 on the t-shirt symbolizes the early technical progress of the network rather than a price target.

Thursday’s tech and AI-chain decline pulled BTC below $76,000, moving the market from earnings trades into a second-wave volatility window.
