Solana Co-founder Proposes Native Oracles Allocated by Staking Weight
On October 24, Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko proposed a concept to utilize Solana validators to allocate decision-making power based on staking weight. The plan aims to build oracles that provide price assessments for tokenized assets, using these assets as collateral. Validators will participate in price determination based on the amount of SOL they have staked, and the profits generated from this mechanism could increase revenue for the Solana network through taxation. This concept is currently in the conceptual stage and is not an official governance proposal, with no clear implementation timeline or governance voting arrangements yet. If realized in the future, this mechanism could introduce a native alternative to the existing oracle network on Solana, but it also involves changes in supply due to the issuance of additional SOL, as well as potential conflicts of interest and manipulation risks arising from validators participating in collateral pricing.
