SIPAP Failures in Paraguay Affect Transfers, Bitcoin Operates Without Interruptions

By: www.criptonoticias.com|10/16/2026 16:36:10

The Payment System of Paraguay (SIPAP) experienced technical issues on October 15, 2026, affecting electronic transfers nationwide for over 2 hours. The Central Bank of Paraguay (BCP) confirmed the failure and requested understanding while working to restore the service. During the outage, users were unable to access e-banking services or digital wallets, which interrupted real-time settlement in SIPAP. Although the BCP reported that the service was restored, some customers continued to experience problems. This event highlights the risk of centralized architectures, where a single point of failure can paralyze access to funds. In contrast, the Bitcoin network, which operates on a decentralized infrastructure, continued to function without interruptions, allowing direct transfers between users without the need for a central bank. While SIPAP relied on repairs, Bitcoin maintained 100% technical operability, demonstrating its advantage as an alternative to ensure the movement of money without collapses.
