The OECD inflation rate stood at 4.5% in September, an increase of two-tenths from 4.3% in August, primarily driven by rising energy prices, which increased in 31 of the 37 member countries. Energy prices rose by 17.4% in September, compared to 13.6% the previous month, while food prices slightly decreased by 0.2 percentage points. Core inflation, which excludes food and energy, remained at 3.7%. The overall price level in the OECD exceeds the December 2019 records by more than 40%, with food prices accumulating an increase close to 50% and energy services nearly 70% since the onset of the pandemic. In the G7, inflation accelerated in almost all powers, with Canada as the exception. In the eurozone, inflation rose to 3.8% in September, up from 3.2% in August, due to a 4.6 percentage point increase in energy products, which reached 18.9%. Eurostat's preliminary estimate for October 2026 points to a new year-on-year increase in overall inflation in the eurozone, reaching 4%.
